It has a lake for fishing and swimming, as well as a number of trails. This hike is a fairly easy out-and-back trip on the Lakeshore Trail, except that we will detour on the Northridge trail on the return. The primary focus is on finding and identifying wildflowers along the trail. To aid in this endeavor, we have included a number of waypoints that pinpoint places where specific flowers have been found in the past. To catch these flowers in bloom, it would be best to come in early May. At other times, you can consult the wildflower checklists shown in the link below to find out what flowers are blooming. It is important to note that cell coverage may be non-existent within the park. This means that the Web links listed here and elsewhere will not work while on the trail. You should review these links prior to coming to the park. You should also use the features offered by your GPS app for working off-line. Hiking/Backpacking

Waypoints only show likely places for finding specific wildflowers on the trail. In any given season, these flowers may be seen in other areas on the trail or be absent altogether. The Lakeshore trail continues past the turn-around point for this hike. It is possible to continue on the trail for a complete loop around the lake back to the starting point, for a total hike of 5.8 miles. See the park map. The swimming beach is just a short distance from the trailhead.
