North Anna Battlefield Gray Trail

Trip Facts Parking: Parking lot at the trailhead - Look for the Civil War Trails sign for the turn-off from Verdon Rd. Drive to the end of the road Parking Availability - 30 or so slots. Fee: None Hours: Sunrise to Sunset Verizon Cell Coverage: 2 bars Month Recorded: June This trail traverses the site of a Civil War battle that occurred in 1864. Along the way, you will find a number of markers that provide details regarding the battle and the earthworks that remain. These markers are shown as waypoints on the track. In addition, we will point out a few natural features of the park as you go along. Although the main focus of the park is on explaining what happened during the battle, the peace and solitude of the quiet woods will also be enjoyable, since you may very well have the park trails to yourself. There are two trails in the park - the Gray and the Blue trails. This trip follows the Gray trail only. The Blue trail is a spur off of the Gray trail and can be easily be combined with the Gray trail for a longer hike. The start of the Blue trail is marked with a waypoint on this track. If you choose to add the Blue trail to your walk, the total length of the trip will increase to approximately 5 miles. In addition, the Blue trail has a few steep slopes to navigate.
