11 followers for my short ride to Eton Wick but swiftly down to 10 as Frank bailed out half a mile into the ride on the grounds that he was too cold. Onward towards Iver where Tel and Angela bailed out as we turned into Mansion Lane (Secret assignation? We need to know !) Onward through the back of Langley to the Bridge Cafe at Datchet for morning tea. As we were leaving, Gill and Hoppo bailed out (Another assignation? We need to know!) Now down to 6 followers we headed to Windsor and Eton to our lunch stop the Shepherds Hut at Eton Wick. First Black Mark of the day - not serving lunch as a new menu is being prepared. I whipped out plan B - we will go to the Greyhound instead. Second Black Mark - not serving lunch as landlord away on holiday. I whipped out plan C - back to the Watermans Arms in Eton. Hoorah - they were serving lunch ! Don and Melissa opted not to follow us back to Uxbridge (What IS going on?) Now down to 4 followers we retraced the route back to Eton Wick and the Jubilee River where Francis pulled out. My remaining 3 loyal followers - hung in there through to Upton Court, Middle Green, Iver and back into Uxbridge. Arriving at our afternoon stop the Cafe Basilica, I swiftly earned the third Black Mark of the day as it was shut. Trusty plan C said head for Zizi's where we found it was shut Black mark number 4. Plan D said try the Slug and Lettuce - hoorah open - where after suitable refreshment the group dispersed. 4 Black Marks in one day - I claim the club record!
