On an overcast day sixteen of us departed from Uxbridge, John J. was not punctual and joined us as we left. John M. cheerfully leaped to the request for the back marker. Uneventfully we arrived at Nita’s we were warmly welcomed. Sixteen riders were difficult to accommodate, but fortunately Don, Laurie and John M. hid in the store room among the consumables. Nita announced she had counted the packs of buns. The assignation of Don and Gil turned back towards home upon some flimsy pretext. The delay of the queue for personal needs caused little problems. Chairman Laurie forged ahead providing useful guidance as we passed over the canal and through Ditton Park. Crossing the bridge over the M4 we raced through Dachet passing the Royal Winsor Farm Shop we arrived at The Bells of Ouseley. Jason our water was excellent, comments on the food varied, especially the fish. Some confusion occurred when Brian ordered his meal, upon being asked would he prefer mushy or garden peas. He replied he did not like mushy peas, Jason took this as he preferring garden peas. We thought Brian was happy, but no, he left the peas. Apparently he was ‘peaed’ off. As we left the Bells, four armoured tanks raced by. We waved and cheered. Melissa bid farewell and headed for home. Wending our way along the river bank and along the footpath adjacent the M25 to Vermeulans. Unfortunately Steve Trott had a rear puncture and it necessitated a half mile walk to the tea stop. Urgency was the word, Ray and Francis had to be back early. We headed north through Poyle, Slade Lane and Iver. Francis caught the train. Approaching Uxbridge we dispersed.
