A very Long Day hike for this time of the Year which was not planned like this but for Safety Reasons it was the right decision and add the additional Miles and Time. Started my Hike at the Parking Lot at Povici di sopra (359 m) and made my way up along the River on a well Signed Road and Trail towards Ricovero Resartico (Mountain Hut and Old Mining Town). From here on it got interesting on steep and washed out Trails. Steep, narrow, exposed, Muddy and Leaf covered Trail partially Secured but not everywhere. Hiking up was already sketchy and raised the question of Safety to get up there by holding onto Dwarf Pine branches just to move forward. Being also exposed didn’t add to comfort. I knew right there this is not Safe to return back down the same way. Further up towards Slips Pass was an ok Trail but occasionally overgrown and Hards to follow, also loose Gravel at times. Once close to the Pass Strong and Cold North Wind kicked and I was Happy to get over the Pass and could descend a bit on the Warmer South Side. A westerly traverse and getting back onto the Ridgeline towards the Mountain on a Small but marked Trail to the Summit of Monte Plauris with a small Cross and Register Book. My time up to the Summit was actually quite reasonable and probably fast on return but not Safe to descend in Todays Wet Conditions, So it was over the Summit and down the other side which started also Steep and on Lose Gravel to reach below visible Trail. The remaining Route is just a very Long Walk on Trails, Roads and Trails again with many up and downs to eventually get back to the Parking Lot. Definitely more than I bargained for today as I had planned it as a Half Day Tour. Never mind, It was the right decision I made and Safety was a big Issue today. NOTE: Probably a Great Hike in Dry Conditions.
